Ten Steps to Correct Condom Use

Here at the SHRC we advise that when using a condom, one should follow the 10 steps to correct condom use (yes, there are 10 steps!)

1. Check expiry date on back of condom.
2. Check for air bubble (ensure condom wrapper is sealed)
3. Open condom carefully. Do not use teeth
4. Blow into tip to figure out which way to roll it
5. Place tip of condom over erect penis
6. Squeeze the tip of condom so that there is space left at tip to collect the semen
7. Unroll condom down base of erect penis
8. Lubricate (water based) and enjoy!
9. Withdraw immediately, remove condom from penis, doing so at a safe distance from partner's genitals
10. Tie off end of condom. Dispose of condom discreetly. Do not flush.
