Welcome to Queen’s Rotaract. Queen’s Rotaract was established in 1994 as a university based community service organisation under the direction and sponsorship of the Kingston Rotary Club. Under the guidance of our executive committee we participate in international service projects, local volunteering, professional development activities and social events. By following the Rotary International motto of service above self we strive to support the international and local communities by donating our time to physically support or fundraise for a variety of service initiatives. Locally, Queen’s Rotaract has established relationships with organisations such as Easter Seals, Martha’s Table, Almost Home and many other Rotary and Queen’s University affiliates. Our most recent international service project was a very successful trip to El Salvador in which 10 of our members, along with 4 representatives of the Ottawa Rotaract Club, showed our support for the work of our Central American counterparts. The El Salvador project marks district 7040’s first international service project by a Rotaract club. In the past we have financially supported the Rotary International initiative for the worldwide eradication of polio as well as an orphanage for disabled children in India. Queen’s Rotaract exists and operates thanks to Rotarians, Queen’s University, many local businesses and its enthusiastic members. The members of Queen’s Rotaract strive to live by the example set by the Rotaractors before us and the Rotarians that support us all over the world. We hope that you will be inspired to join the thousands of Rotaractors in 158 countries striving to “promote international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.” |
