New Club Executive Needed

It's that time of year again! We're looking for new students to fill openings in the club executive. The club executive is composed of the club president, vice president, treasurers/equipement managers, safety officer / secretary, and webmaster. You can find out detail about the different positions in the 'Club Executive' section of our website. If you're interested in helping with the executive next year, please email Kristina Arseneau (4ka2@queensu.ca). We need to hear from you by Feb. 26th at the latest!

Upcoming Event - Bo Seminar

The Queen's Tae Kwon Do Club will be hosting a bo (staff) seminar on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The seminar will be taught by Master Palumbo, an 8th degree black belt with over 35 years experience. During the seminar, Master Palumbo will teach a bo form that can be performed at the upcoming tournament.

As weapons training is outside of the normal class material, this seminar is optional. The fee to attend will be $25. Students wishing to attend must sign up on or before February 26. Spare weapons will be available for people who do not yet own a bo.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Update

This is a reminder that the very exciting Pirates vs. Ninjas party will be held THIS SATURDAY (Feb. 2nd). This event is an opportunity for all of the amazing people in our club to indulge in the fantasy that we've all imagined at some point in its various forms, but never actually risked attempting.

What are you - a ninja or a pirate? Come clad as either (costumes are optional - but highly encouraged!). Bring your favourite snack, game (or suggestion of a game), and drink (alcoholic or otherwise).

We'll be meeting at the PEC on Saturday at 6:30 pm. From there, we'll be walking to Mike Roger's place.

If you have any questions, you can email Mike (3mr28@queensu.ca) or talk to any of the exec in class.

Mike Roger, VP

Upcoming Social Events

1. Grad Club get-to-together

Come one, come all to the grad club this coming Thursday, January 24th, to celebrate being alive and kicking! (get it...?). It's a chance for all taekwondo-minded students to kick back (again!) and relax over a pint. If you don't drink or are underage, you are also more than welcome to join! We'll meet in the PEC lobby after the class on Thursday and go to the Grad Club together.

2. Pirate/Ninja Potluck Party with Games, Rum and Sake!

(P/NPPGRS for short)...

Get ready...for the awesomest social that QTKD has yet to witness! This event is an opportunity for all of the amazing people in our club to indulge in the fantasy that we've all imagined at some point in its various forms, but never actually risked attempting. But on Saturday, February 2nd, a reckoning of unprecedented magnitude will take place between pirates, on the one hand, and ninjas on the other! Come costumed, clad as one of these two legendary figures with a dish, games, or beverage of choice...and prepare yourself--for who knows what will happen??!! Location TBA.

Tournament Reminder

The tournament date for this year is April 5th (the day after classes end). This is just a reminder for everyone to maintain good time management skills so that you can be free for this event!
