Tournament Results

Six members of Queen's Tae Kwon Do Club traveled to Watertown last weekend to compete in the American Kang Duk Won Association 32nd International Karate Tournament. Over the course of the all-day event the competitors were awarded 11 titles, including 4 first place trophies.

The students, Samantha Lee, Sherman Li, Jennifer Lem, Caroline Lougheed, Mark Patterson, and Sarah Tooth, competed in three aspects of the martial arts: katas (scripted combat sequences), weapons forms, and sparring.

For their katas, Lem took 1st place in the white belt division, Lougheed took 4th place in the yellow belt division, Li and Tooth took 1st and 2nd place in the green belt division, and Patterson took 2nd in the brown belt division.

In weapons competition, Li, Lem, and Lougheed were awarded 1st, 3rd, and 4th place for their bo katas (scripted combat with wooden staff).

Tooth, Li, and Patterson captured 1st, 2nd, and 2nd place in their respective sparring divisions.

Competitors from Queen's have a strong history of performance at the Kang Duk Won Tournament—a reflection of the dedication and support of the club instructors, Mr. Dupuis, Mrs. Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Delouche, and Master Shean.

Photos are available here.
