Queen's First Aid works closely with many organizations both on and off campus. Below is a listing of some of these organizations, and links to their web sites.

Queen's First Aid is also known as No. 970 Queen's University Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade of Canada. The Queen's First Aid unit is one of the few independent divisions of the Brigade on a Canadian university campus. This association with St. John Ambulance provides access to a national organization and a consistently high and current standard of training. Queen's First Aid volunteers are qualified with St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid, Level C CPR, Brigade Training System Level 2 (BTS-2,) St. John Ambulance Oxygen Administration, and Semi-Automated External Defibrillation. Most of us are also certified as Advanced Medical First Responders (Level 1,) and this fall the rest of the unit will complete this advanced training.
A little about St. John Ambulance...
St. John Ambulance is a national, voluntary agency founded in Canada over 110 years ago. Our mission is to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. St. John Ambulance is a foundation of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. The work of St. John Ambulance in Canada is carried out by two distinct yet mutually dependent groups:
The Brigade: uniformed volunteers who provide first aid coverage at public events and deliver community care services. Queen's First Aid is Campus Response Division of St. John Ambulance.
The Association: a network of medical professionals, program development specialists and instructors who provide first aid and health promotion courses to Canadians.

Queen's First Aid On Call Response is dispatched directly from the Emergency Report Centre. You can reach the ERC by calling their emergency phone number, 533-6111, or activating any blue light emergency phone. The Emergency Report Centre Operator can then dispatch QFA, Campus Security, and Regional Ambulance (if needed.)
A little about Campus Security...
The mandate of Campus Security is to promote a safe and welcoming environment that recognizes and is respectful of the diverse nature of the Queen's Community. An integral part of Campus Security's service is the Emergency Report Centre (ERC.) The ERC is staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, providing the Queen's Community a central point of communication and dispatch for Campus Security and emergency services. ERC's operational priorities include: Monitoring Queen's emergency communication systems (radio, telephone, blue light, emergency & assistance phones,) Monitoring Queen's fire, intrusion, and mechanical alarms, Dispatching Campus Security staff and other Queen's emergency services (including Queen's First Aid,) Dispatching municipal emergency services.

Queen's First Aid is also affiliated with the Alma Mater Society of Queen's University as a student-run club. Financial support for QFA comes directly form non-academic student fees (a $2.00 mandatory fee) which are administered by the Alma Mater Society. Registration for Public First Aid & CPR courses are also done at the AMS's Front Desk (lower ceilidh of the John Deutsch University Centre.) Applications forms are also available to be picked up and dropped off at the AMS Front Desk during Recruitment Sessions.
A little about the Alma Mater Society...
The Alma Mater Society is the central undergraduate student government at Queen's University. An umbrella organization, the AMS each year hires over 500 student employees and 1000 volunteers, as it works with member faculty societies to offer a wide array of resources, services, support and opportunities to Queen's students.

Queen's First Aid is a member organization of the Association of Campus Emergency Response Teams of Canada (ACERT.) Through this organization QFA participates in National Campus Response Competitions twice annually, as well as have access to other Campus Response Teams across Canada.

A little about NCEMSF...
National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) purpose is to support, promote, and advocate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on college and university campuses. The Foundation is committed to the advancement of existing response groups and assisting in the development of new response groups.
