Pride Week Information
Check out Pride Week! Coming back March 2009!
Queen’s Pride Week is organized to celebrate the diversity of sexual and gender identities, specifically those of the Lesbian/ Gay/ Bisexual/ Transgender/ Transexual/ TwoSpirited/ Intersex/ Asexual/ Queer (LGBTTSIAQ) community. March 2007 saw the first Queen’s Pride week, making 2008 the second annual celebration - continuing this new tradition. Come out and enjoy another week full of social and educational events to celebrate the diversity of Queen's campus and Kingston!
The Goals of Queen’s Pride Week are Remembrance, Celebration, Education, and Community. EQuIP feels that Pride Week should serve as an event to remember the struggles that the LGBTTSIAQ community has suffered to give the rights and freedoms to the current LGBTTSIAQ community today. It is also a time to celebrate the successes of activists who have made it possible to for such a week to be organized, as well as celebrate our individual identities. We feel that it is also essential to have a balance between social activities and educational ones. Through Pride Week, EQuIP hopes to foster a positive space for continued learning to promote acceptance of sexual diversity. Queen’s Pride Week also offers a time to create new opportunities for expanding community and creating social connections for everyone.

***EQuIP thanks CFRC and the Queen's Women's Centre for their generous sponsorship of Pride Week 2008***
